Addressing the new Aide to the President – Inspector for the Gomel Region, as well as the heads of local executive and administrative bodies, the Head of State oriented them towards active work, “There is no Communist Party, everything is in your hands. A major election campaign lies ahead, where the ideological component is of paramount importance. Work and think about who will represent you in Parliament, in the Belarusian People’s Congress. We absolutely do not hide the fact that we will support someone. It’s natural. If we now imagined ourselves so modest and untouched, people would simply laugh at us.”
In this regard, the Belarusian leader recalled how ‘democratic’ Americans have always taught us to conduct elections, “You see how the election campaign was and is going on there. God forbid that we conduct it like this, especially by mail. And if we had carried it out like that, we would have been wiped off the face of the earth earlier. Therefore, we have our own tasks, our own goals. Identify worthy, patriotic people, professionals and support them in parliamentary elections and in the Belarusian People’s Congress.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko underlined, “I’m not hiding anything, and you have nothing to hide. However, these must be professionals, these must be decent people, so that when people learn about the candidates we support, they don’t throw all sorts of nasty things in our faces. I think we have plenty of smart and talented people. And look, I always warn you: don’t act rashly in this case.”
