Lukashenko extended Spring Festival greetings to SCO Secretary General

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has congratulated Secretary General of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation (SCO) Zhang Ming on China’s Spring Festival – as reported by the Belarusian leader’s press service

“In 2023, the family of the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation was replenished with a new member, testifying to building confidence and good neighbourliness between the countries,” the congratulatory message reads. “Thanks to your rich experience and high professionalism, the SCO is becoming an increasingly authoritative international association – aimed to turn challenges into opportunities, while contributing to the preservation of peace and prosperity of the SCO peoples.”

“The Secretariat, headed by Zhang Ming, is rightfully recognised as an effective co-ordinator of multidisciplinary co-operation, primarily in promoting trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian liaisons,” the President stated.

“Our republic is completely ready to be involved in various SCO formats in a new status,” the Head of State underlined, thanking the Secretary General for his unwavering support in the process of Belarus joining the organisation as a full member.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished Zhang Ming strong health, success in responsible activities, harmony and prosperity.
