The icon was painted with acrylic paints, and its background and assist are covered with gold leaf. The case is made of brocade fabric decorated with metallised cord, pearls, gilded plaque, rhinestones, as well as natural stones in castes: amethyst, carnelian, amber, rose quartz, and jasper.

The icon is a copy of the original, which was painted by reverend Andrei Rublev in the 15th century, being one of his most famous works. The icon is called ‘theology in colours’ because it expresses the Christian teaching about the Holy Trinity in symbolic techniques. It is based on a biblical story – Abraham’s Hospitality (Genesis, Chapter 18) – which symbolically reveals the image of the Holy Trinity. The original icon has a complicated history. Since 1929, it has been kept at the Tretyakov Gallery.
