Lukashenko demanded to bring irresponsible parents back to reality
Children in almost 10,000 Belarusian families are recognised as being in a socially dangerous situation. Negligent parents simply drink away child allowances while children suffer – as stated today by the President of Belarus at a meeting with the Council of Ministers leadership.
Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the fact that even earlier he demanded from the Government that child allowances would not be given to irresponsible parents to be spent in vain, but would reach directly children. To achieve this, any measures must be taken.
“The government proposed ‘to focus on improving the effectiveness of systemic monitoring of the situation of children and to strengthen control over the misuse of allowances’. I’d like to hear from you what is behind these common words and how do you think to solve this problem? The system needs to be adjusted clearly – in no case should children be deprived, and irresponsible parents should be brought back to reality. You gave birth to a child – you should bear responsibility for them. If you don’t want to, we will force you,” the President said.
