Aleksandr Songin, the Chairman of the Union of Poles in Belarus public association, said at the meeting, “Communicating with residents on both sides of the border, I understand very clearly that ordinary people expect an early normalisation of relations between the countries. Are the Polish authorities making contact on the proposals of the Belarusian side regarding the settlement of existing relations?"

"I will not talk about our relations with the Polish leadership. I do not want to say that we enjoy excellent relations with all Poles in Poland, but 99 percent of Poles understand our policy and, I am sure, support it. Our policy is not aggressive towards Poland. We are not trying to impose our policy, we are not trying to fight against Poland. We are well aware that millions will die in this war, and no one will win. We do not need it. We need peace and quiet," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
