Lukashenko: Belarus’ doors open for decent and kind neighbours

During his visit to the Myadel District, the President of Belarus was interviewed by journalists. In particular, he was asked of a possibility to introduce a simplified regime for admission of residents of Lithuania, Latvia and Poland to Belarusian citizenship. Earlier, Deputy Oleg Gaidukevich voiced such an idea.

According to the Head of State, Belarus grants citizenship to immigrants from Ukraine, and this issue is being resolved promptly. “It cannot be even faster. This is because the President can grant citizenship in our country. There is no delay, if documents are submitted to me. Lithuanians, Latvians and Poles will be treated in the same way,” he explained.

The President stressed that the country will be happy to welcome specialists who want to live and work in Belarus. “Our deputies meant that we should have no red tape, that the process should be speedy. As regards the mechanism, there is probably nothing like this anywhere in the world. We are ready for this. We will do everything to accept our most decent and kind neighbours – and not only them – into our Belarusian family. We will be happy to welcome anyone who wants to work with us and follow the Belarusian lifestyle,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stated.
