Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed the distinguished guests at the event. He said that, on October 23rd, the BRICS Summit was successfully held in Kazan, where issues of the global agenda, co-operation in politics, security, economy and the humanitarian sphere were discussed.

"The discussions have once again demonstrated that the states of the association share the universal values of peace, justice and equality, and work together for the prosperity and well-being of our countries and peoples. The BRICS states stand in solidarity for intensifying co-operation on the world stage based on the key principles of the UN Charter, and together strive to contribute in every possible way to the formation of a just multipolar world order with the decisive participation of the countries of the Global South and East in international governance systems," the Russian leader said.

The BRICS Plus/Outreach format meeting is planned for October 24th, and Aleksandr Lukashenko will be among its participants.

"This expanded format has proven itself well and provides an opportunity for direct and open communication between the members of the association and our sincere friends. Together we will consider the issues of global concern – such as sustainable development and poverty eradication, peaceful settlement of conflicts and fight against terrorism and cross-border crime, adaptation to climate change, stability of supply chains, technology and knowledge exchange in their broadest sense,” Vladimir Putin listed.

As noted by the President of Russia, these topics directly affect the lives of citizens of the forum participants. Accordingly, collective action is needed in these areas.

"We strive to attract like-minded people to the existing working formats of interaction within the framework of the association, while building an equal and mutually beneficial partnership with them. It is in this spirit, under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security, that the Russian chairmanship has been working this year," Vladimir Putin said. He raised a toast to the prosperity of the peoples, the strengthening of interaction and the health of all participants of the reception.
