Lukashenko arrived in UAE on working visit

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has arrived in the United Arab Emirates on a working visit, BelTA reports

In the nearest days, the World Climate Action Summit will be held in Dubai under the UN auspices. The global forum is planned to be widely attended by top officials: delegations are expected to be impressive and representative.

Earlier, the Presidential press service reported that during the event Aleksandr Lukashenko will voice Belarus’ approaches and proposals to address global issues of climate and environmental security. The Belarusian Head of State will also hold a range of meetings and negotiations on the sidelines of the summit.

The event will take place almost eight years after the Paris Climate Agreement and halfway towards implementing the 2030 Agenda.

The world has fallen short of the goals of the Paris Agreement, UN reports show, but there is hope that world leaders will create a roadmap at the summit to accelerate action on climate change. Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrei Khudyk recently told BelTA about the work Belarus is doing in this direction.
