Poland announced new operation on border with Belarus

Polish Defence Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz announced that a new special operation to protect Poland's border with Belarus will be launched on August 1st, RIA Novosti reports

According to the Defence Minister, up to 17 thousand soldiers will take part in the Safe Podlaskie mission – scheduled to start on August 1st – which is aimed at protecting the border.

Mr. Kosiniak-Kamysz also stated that ‘the army is ready to send additional forces and funds, if necessary’.

Earlier, the country's Deputy Defence Minister, Pawel Bejda, reported that there are now almost 6,000 Polish troops on the border. Their number will be increased to 8 thousand to guard the Polish border. Another 9,000 troops will be on constant alert nearby and be able to provide support with all their equipment and weapons within 48 hours.
