Lukashenko supported proposal on visa-free travel for citizens of 35 European countries when entering Belarus through road and railway checkpoints
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has supported the proposal to establish a procedure for temporary visa-free entry, exit and stay in the Republic of Belarus through all road and railway checkpoints for citizens of another 35 European countries, Belarus’ Foreign Ministry reports
"In order to further demonstrate the openness and peacefulness of our country, commitment to the principles of good neighbourliness, as well as to simplify interpersonal contacts and improve freedom of movement, the President of the Republic of Belarus has supported the proposal of the Foreign Ministry and other state bodies to establish a procedure for temporary visa-free entry, exit and stay in the Republic of Belarus through all road and railway checkpoints for citizens of another 35 European countries,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
Technically, the procedure will take effect from 8am on July 19th, 2024.
Accordingly, citizens of all European countries in respect of which Belarus applies the visa regime, can enter and leave through all land and air international checkpoints of the state border of the Republic of Belarus with valid documents from July 19th and stay in Belarus for no more than 30 days from the date of entry.
This procedure for visa-free entry and exit will be valid until December 31st, 2024.
The current regime of visa-free entry through land checkpoints for citizens of Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and other countries is also in force.
Along with this, the former visa-free regime remains in effect when entering through air checkpoints, which creates additional logistical opportunities for guests of the Republic of Belarus against the background of artificial obstacles and restrictions from neighbouring Western countries.
