Lukashenko arrived in St. Petersburg to participate in CIS and EAEU summits
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived in Russia on a working visit, with the Head of State’s aircraft landing at Pulkovo International Airport in St. Petersburg, BelTA reports
On December 25th, a traditional informal meeting of the CIS heads of state will be held in St. Petersburg, or, to be more precise, in its vicinity: on the territory of the Igora all-season resort. The CIS leaders will summarise the results of the year and discuss the prospects for integration co-operation.
On December 26th, Aleksandr Lukashenko will also take part in the session of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The meeting of the heads of state will be held in a narrow and expanded format.
“The agenda of the meeting includes about two dozen issues. The EAEU leaders will discuss the strategic directions of the union’s activities, including the progress in the formation of common energy markets and further harmonisation of legislation, prospects for co-operation with third countries, as well as a number of working issues,” the Presidential press service noted.
During the meeting, the President is expected to announce the goals and priorities of Belarus’ chairmanship of the EAEU in 2025.
The Igora all-season resort is located an hour’s drive from St. Petersburg on the Karelian Isthmus. It has the highest altitude difference and the longest track in the Leningrad Region. In winter, the resort has 10 multi-level tracks for skiing and snowboarding.
Within walking distance from the resort is Russia’s most modern motor racing circuit, Igora Drive, where, for the first time in the world, 10 tracks for various types of motorcycling and motorcycling operate on one territory.
