Lukashenko arrived at firewood chopping championship among journalists
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived at the firewood chopping championship among journalists, BelTA reports
This is the third championship in a row. Its venue is the same as in previous years: the picturesque bank of the Vyacha River in the Minsk District.
The competition events include chopping firewood, cutting logs, chopping firewood in a Presidential style. Apart from the traditional contests, the participants will be offered new ones. The men showing the best result will be able to participate in a dynamic and interesting competition: With One Stroke! An unusual competition will also be held among women: they are to split a woodblock with wedges and a frying pan.
Fans are also welcome to compete – i.e. in tugging firewood on a sleigh and collecting wooden figures.
This year, the organisers have prepared about 30 cubic metres of wood for the competition. Following the established good tradition, all firewood will be further donated to those in need for heating their houses in the winter.
