Lukashenko appointed new Director of Financial Investigations Department at Belarus’ State Control Committee

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has appointed Andrei Sambuk – who previously headed the KGB Investigative Department – as Deputy Chairman of the State Control Committee – Director of the Financial Investigations Department, BelTA reports

“I invited you to discuss in general, firstly, the functioning and activities of our two most important law enforcement agencies. I’m talking about the State Security Committee (KGB) and financial intelligence, as we once called it. It was shisted to the State Control Committee. There are enough problems, and we’ll talk about this later,” said the Head of State.

One more issue – personnel – deals with the existing vacancy for the Head of the Financial Investigations Department.

“We need to give the Financial Investigations Department a certain direction, perhaps more related to systemic work, as is the case with the State Security Committee,” the President said. “I’m inclined to appoint you, Andrei Vasilievich, to this position while Konstantin Fedorovich [Deputy Head of the KGB Investigation Department Konstantin Bychek] will work in the State Security Committee, since he is still very young,” the President said.

“Well, I won’t hide that you represent the new generation. I always talk about this, and you will have to work much and hard, including in higher positions. Therefore, keep this in mind, too,” added the Belarusian leader.

A decision was also made to appoint Konstantin Bychek as Head of the KGB Investigation Department.
