Lukashenko, Aliyev negotiated in Baku
President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko is holding talks with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev in Baku. The Belarusian leader has arrived in the capital of Azerbaijan on a working visit to participate in the World Climate Action Summit.
The presidents noted the intensity of the meetings recently. It is worth recalling here the state visit of Aleksandr Lukashenko to Azerbaijan in May 2024. The leaders of the two countries also communicated in Moscow and Kazan, where they took part in the CIS and BRICS summits.
Speaking about co-operation with Azerbaijan, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed “We have agreed on many issues. I think we have everything we need to move along this path. Just the day before, we reviewed all the issues that we raised with you. They are very relevant to us. I think we can do a lot for the benefit of both Belarus and Azerbaijan if our ministries and the ambassador work more intensively.”
It should be recalled that, in May of this year, during his state visit to Azerbaijan, the Belarusian leader emphasised that the parties are able to increase the level of mutual trade to $1bn in the future. “This will be a good progress, and it may need two stages. We will get a turnover of $500m within a year and a half first and then reach $1bn in some time. We will do everything for this… We do not have closed topics, we are open. Our relationships are the kindest and closest, we communicate like brothers. We understand the situation in the same way, realising where the world is moving,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said then.
