Law No. 335-3, ensuring correction to Law On President of the Republic of Belarus, entered into force on July 6th

Law No. 335-3 (as of January 3rd, 2024), envisaging a comprehensive adjustment of the Law On the President of the Republic of Belarus taking into account the updated provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Belarus – adopted at the nationwide referendum on February 27th, 2022 – entered into force on July 6th, 2024 sb.by reports with reference to the House of Representatives’ press service

In line with the document, the constitutional requirements for candidates for the post of the President of the Republic of Belarus have been fixed and the legal status of the President of the Republic of Belarus has been clarified. It is envisaged that the Head of State heads the public service system and is a delegate to the Belarusian People’s Congress.

The constitutional right of the President of the Republic of Belarus to submit proposals to the Belarusian People’s Congress – previously agreed with the Presidium of the Belarusian People’s Congress – on the election and dismissal of chairs, deputy chairs and judges of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts of the Republic of Belarus, chair and members of the Central Election Commission, has been secured.

The legal status and guarantees of the President of the Republic of Belarus, who terminated his powers due to the expiration of the term in office or prematurely in the event of resignation or persistent inability for health reasons to carry out the duties of the President, have been determined.
