Lavrov: Germany ‘meekly accepted’ destruction of Nord Stream pipelines
Berlin has ‘meekly accepted the humiliating destruction’ of Nord Stream pipelines, said Russian FM Sergei Lavrov speaking at the Inventing the Future International Science Fiction Symposium, TASS reports
“Now Berlin is nodding along to the US’ move to deploy American intermediate-range surface missiles in Germany. Chancellor [Olaf] Scholz just said it was a good decision,” he added.
Mr. Lavrov also drew attention to the ‘senseless talks about using Western long-range weapons systems for deep strikes into Russia’. “I don’t want to say how pointless the very idea of defeating Russia on the battlefield is. At the very least, this will make potential parties to such a war that much less likely to find any place for themselves in the multipolar future,” pointed out the Russian FM.
“It’s sad that the ruling elites in many European countries today do not see any future for themselves in the multi-polar world, grasping at their overseas hegemon for salvation instead. The German government meekly accepted the humiliating destruction of Nord Stream pipelines, contrary to the key interests of the German economy and the German people,” said the Russian diplomat.
