Kremlin: Europe does not understand the mistake of bringing NATO military infrastructure closer to Russian borders
The press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Peskov, said that the situation when Europeans are not aware of the risks from NATO expansion towards Russia's borders is regrettable, RIA Novosti reports
According to Mr. Peskov, Russia was ‘witnessing new waves of NATO military infrastructure approaching the Russian borders’. “That was actually among the reasons that have taken us to the current situation,” he stressed.
Earlier it was reported that, according to Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda, NATO should abandon its restrictions on the creation of permanent defensive bases near the Russian borders.
"It seems Europeans do not understand this mistake. It is very important to realise that the Russian military infrastructure has never moved towards Western Europe, there has always been a movement in the opposite direction. If Europeans do not understand this mistake, then it is regrettable, of course,” Mr. Peskov added.
