Kovalchuk noted importance of active sports interaction with friendly countries
Belarus’ Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk stressed during a meeting of the department’s board that the country should actively liaise with friendly states both in the economy and in sports – as reported by the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry in its Telegram channel
The head of the sports department noted that the sanctions adopted against Belarus did not negatively affect the system of sports development in the country. Moreover, Sergei Kovalchuk stressed that today Belarus has the opportunity to hold competitions of the highest international level on the territory of Belarus.
“We need to be friends and build relationships with those countries that want it,” said Sergei Kovalchuk, citing the recent visit of the Head of State to Zimbabwe as an example.
“It is necessary to actively liaise on the international arena with such countries, not only in the economy, but also in sports,” the Minister added.
At the meeting of the Sports and Tourism Ministry’s board dedicated to the industry’s results in 2022 and tasks for 2023, the topics of the socio-economic and investment development of the industry were discussed, alongside the results of the performance of the national teams of Belarus and other important issues.
