Kochanova: Belarus conducting election campaign for its people, their interests are the key

Belarus is approaching an important political event: the election of the President. As noted by Natalya Kochanova, the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, at a meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly Council in St. Petersburg, the country is conducting an election campaign for its people, and their interests will be paramount.

“The President of the Republic of Belarus said the main priority of the upcoming election campaign is ‘to hold it at a high level, organisational first of all’,” Ms. Kochanova noted. “Currently, all government agencies are focused on this task. It is well known of the repeated attempts by the West to shake up the internal political situation in Belarus, they failed miserably. Nevertheless, we do not lose vigilance in case of possible provocations and attempts to interfere from the outside.”

According to the Chairperson of the Council of the Republic, Belarusians have learned from the bitter experience of 2020, which could lead to the collapse of statehood and the achievements that the republic is rightfully proud of today.

“Belarusians want to live in peace and harmony, build their future based on national interests, rather than the interests of European bureaucrats and politicians. Belarusians, using the example of events in the region and in the world as a whole, are more than ever aware of the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the country. Taking into account the vast experience of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly in monitoring the preparation and conduct of elections and the unshakable authority of the organisation, the objectivity of its conclusions, I have the honour, on behalf of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, to invite the Interparliamentary Assembly to participate in international monitoring of the Presidential election in Belarus,” Ms. Kochanova stated.
