The growth of Belarusian exports to Pakistan is impressive – as noted by Mikhail Myatlikov, the Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, on the side-lines of the Belarusian-Pakistani business forum in Islamabad

Mr. Myatlikov informed that a large business delegation representing 40+ Belarusian enterprises had arrived in Pakistan. “Eight documents totalling more than $17m are ready for signing. The negotiations will take two days, so I think a number of additional documents and protocols of intent will be signed,” he said.

The BelCCI Chairman stressed that the parties still do not know each other well, and this is recognised both in Minsk and Islamabad. Though some areas of co-operation are already traditional – for example, mechanical engineering and agriculture, new directions need to be mastered. He clarified, “Among them are pharmaceuticals, veterinary drugs, and light industry. We have already agreed that a business delegation from Pakistan will attend our My Belarus exhibition and take part in Belagro (in January, it plans to visit the republic). We are also considering the participation of our companies in a number of exhibitions in Pakistan in order to expand the range of products supplied to each other.”

Mr. Myatlikov said that, in 2023, Belarusian exports to Pakistan increased by 250 percent compared to 2022, and the growth is registered this year as well: from January-June, sales abroad rose by 130 percent against last year's figure. “The growth rate of our exports is really impressive: in H1 2024, Belarusian sales abroad exceeded $17m,” he noted, adding that the Belarus-Pakistan trade turnover made about $50m in 2023.
