Kochanova: 165 agreements and 100+ contracts worth 30bn Russian Roubles to be signed at Forum of Regions
Moreover, Belarusian parliamentarians have seriously joined the work to protect the historical truth – as stated by Chairperson of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova during a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Minsk on July 25th
Noting the similarity of the positions of Belarus and Russia in almost all strategic areas, Natalya Kochanova noted, “2024 is a very important year in the domestic political life of the country, as well as in Russia. You have held presidential elections, and for the first time we held a single voting day, during which deputies of all levels were elected. Moreover, we formed the Belarusian People’s Congress in constitutional status and elected the Chairman of the Belarusian People’s Congress – our President Aleksandr Lukashenko. Your visit is also taking place on the days when we will celebrate the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invaders. Of course, this date is sacred for us. We’re doing everything to preserve this memory and the truth, most importantly, the historical truth about that war. We, the parliamentarians, have been very seriously involved in this work, we have adopted several laws on the genocide of the Belarusian people and on the inadmissibility of the rehabilitation of Nazism. Because we see how fascism, neo-fascism, is now raising its head. Therefore, of course, we are doing everything to preserve historical memory.”
Ms. Kochanova informed that the Belarusian side is preparing with special responsibility for the 9th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia – to be held on June 27th-28th in Vitebsk, Novopolotsk and Polotsk.
“Regional co-operation is, perhaps, of paramount importance for us, because we are the chamber of territorial representation. As of today, we already plan that 165 agreements and more than 100 contracts worth 30bn Russian Roubles will be signed at the Forum of Regions. That is, the economic component is very serious,” the Speaker stressed.
