Kneissl: Austria lost concept of neutrality
The Ukrainian crisis shows that Austria has lost the concept of neutrality, there are more neutral countries – as stated by the former Austrian Foreign Minister, Head of the Geopolitical Observatory for Russia's Key Issues (GORKI Centre) at St. Petersburg University, Karin Kneissl, at the Creating the Future international symposium, TASS reports
"I have to say that Austria's neutrality has also been changing. Of course, it [neutrality] may not be applicable when we talk about voting in the UN General Assembly on a ceasefire in Gaza, and there is a humanitarian legacy when we talk about the situation in Gaza or Lebanon, and when we talk about the situation in Ukraine," she said.
According to Ms. Kneissl, countries such as Hungary and Turkiye, are more neutral, for example. "They really adhere to a neutral policy when it comes to keeping communication channels in working order, because it is very important that communication channels function under all circumstances," she said.
