Interior Ministry revealed details of detention of criminal group preparing terrorist attacks in Belarus

Belarus’ Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption has detained several people preparing terrorist attacks and sabotage in Belarus. All of them were recruited by BYPOL and the fugitive opposition (so-called transitional cabinet) – as informed by Deputy Interior Minister Gennady Kazakevich, BelTA reports.

The detainees were instructed to place bombs and were told where to get incendiary mixtures by the ‘Peramoga plan’ chatbot. These persons are now making a confession and are ready to co-operate with the investigation.

"This ‘Peramog plan’ has been promoted by the fugitive opposition, the so-called transitional cabinet, the BYPOL initiative for a long time. It is positioned as a pseudo-national movement, which, in their opinion, is the most effective tool for overthrowing state power in Belarus," the Deputy Interior Minister noted. “In fact, Belarusian law enforcement specialists assert that this initiative is nothing more than a project of Western special services. It is being generously funded and promoted for a long time. Actually, recently, including in connection with the special operation of the Russian Federation on the territory of Ukraine, this project involves a violent overthrow of state power in the country, and illegal military formation participants, including within the framework of this project, are trained on the territory of Poland and receive combat experience on the territory of Ukraine."

In addition, the fugitive opposition presents this project as absolutely safe for its participants, saying that law enforcement agencies are unbale to identify the latter. Mr. Kazakevich explained, “The ongoing operational combination is actually a very complex multi-way campaign which has been realised and is currently being conducted by the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption of Belarus’ Interior Ministry. The initial results of this special operation enable us to state that this project has no mass support, Belarusians do not support the ideas of extremism and terrorism, and no one is going to commit any sabotage and terrorist attacks. On the other hand, we have detained the most radicalised, active participants of this project right now. They are now making a confession. These persons will become participants in a criminal process, and they admit that they intended to commit terrorist acts on the territory of the Republic of Belarus on the instructions of their curators."

"I would like to emphasise once again that the Belarusian law enforcement officers, the Interior Ministry, the Main Directorate for Combating Organised Crime and Corruption are aware of the operational situation and plans of our opponents. Accordingly, we are ready to respond quickly, harshly and, most importantly, effectively to any manifestations of a terrorist or extremist threat," Mr. Kazakevich added.
