India to stop importing ammunition in 2025-2026 fiscal year
Major General V.K. Sharma, the Deputy Director General of the Department of Military Procurement of the Indian Defence Ministry, said that the Indian army expects to completely stop importing ammunition in the upcoming fiscal year 2025-2026, TASS reports
It is reported that in the 2025-2026 fiscal year, India will not purchase ammunition abroad due to the ability of the national industry to meet demand for them and increase India’s share in the global ammunition market.
It is noted that an exception will be made for small batches of ammunition, the production of which is unprofitable in the country.
The Indian authorities expect that over the next five years, the total volume of production of the country’s military-industrial complex and defence exports will triple.
