At a briefing, the Mayor of the Elliniko-Argyroupoli municipality, Giannis Konstantatos, stated that 314 bombs were destroyed by controlled explosions.

Giannis Konstantatos stressed that the bombs were located under the former facilities of the Pontian Union, kindergartens, and sports facilities, ‘in places where thousands of people came every day’.

“Thankfully, there has never been any destruction or explosions, although it is truly amazing how an entire airport and dozens of municipal and civil aviation administration facilities operated in such a minefield,” Konstantatos added.
