Half of Americans say democracy not working well in US, the poll shows
The Associated Press reported that half of US residents believe the country’s democracy is in poor condition, TASS reports
It is noted that the NORC Centre for Public Affairs Research conducted a survey, according to which 51 percent of participants said that democratic institutions are working ‘not too well’ or ‘not well at all’.
It also reported that 62 percent of adult respondent fear that American democracy could be at risk depending on which party wins the November 2024 presidential election.
Thus, 87 percent of surveyed Democrats and 54 percent of independents believe a second Trump term would negatively affect US democracy. Meanwhile, for Republicans, 82 percent believe democracy would be weakened by another Biden win, with 56 percent of independents agreeing.
