The PM has gone on an official visit to Ashgabat to take part in a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government.
During his meeting with the President of Turkmenistan, Mr. Golovchenko noted that, since gaining independence, co-operation between Belarus and Turkmenistan has been based on the principles of mutual respect and partnership. “This, in particular, was facilitated by the long-term warm and trusting relations between the leaders of our two states," he stressed.
The PM emphasised that Belarus and Turkmenistan effectively co-operate and support each other within the framework of international organisations. In the post-pandemic period, interaction in the humanitarian sphere has been gradually restored – primarily in education, culture and sports.
During the meeting, Mr. Golovchenko thanked the leadership of Turkmenistan for their trust in the education of Turkmen students in Belarus and expressed interest in restoring the practice of training specialists in Belarus who are in demand by the economy of Turkmenistan on the scales observed in the pre-COVID times.
As for the prospects for further development of relations, the PM noted that Belarus and Turkmenistan have a number of areas in which effective co-operation is of mutual interest: i.e. agricultural, industrial, construction and transport sectors. “The Belarusian side confirms its interest in the dynamic development of relations with Turkmenistan and is ready to take concrete practical steps to find mutually acceptable solutions to any issues that hinder the further development of mutually beneficial co-operation," he stressed.
Mr. Golovchenko added that Belarus is committed to a constructive dialogue and is ready to strengthen liaisons in the interests of the two countries and their peoples.
