Germany sent planes, military personnel to Iceland for the first time in decade

The German Air Forces have sent six Eurofighter planes and 30 military personnel to the Rapid Viking military exercises in Iceland, TASS reports

It is informed that German fighters are participating in the manoeuvres in Iceland for the first time in ten years. Marco Brunnhofer, from Bundeswehr, explained, “We are taking part to demonstrate that the German Air Forces can be present in places they are needed in just a few days.”

As noted by the source, the rapid transfer of equipment is one of the goals of the exercises.

Previously, German military aircraft took part in Iceland’s drills in 2010 and 2012.
