A record number of amputation operations is conducted in Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Fox News
According to Fox News, Ukraine will have at least 20 thousand amputees in the future. “Many of them are soldiers who also suffer from psychological traumas received while serving at the front. Europe has not experienced anything like this since WWI, and the United States – since the Civil War,” the source said.
The head of the Superhumans rehabilitation centre of the Ukrainian military with amputated limbs, Olga Rudneva, said that, since February last year, 20 thousand Ukrainians have undergone at least one amputation. The Ukrainian authorities do not report how many AFU soldiers are among them.
The author of the publication noted that the situation is complicated by the fact that there are not enough specialists in prosthetics in Ukraine, and soldiers complain that the prostheses are falling off.
Earlier, Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said that Ukrainian troops had lost at least 66 thousand people and 7.6 thousand weapons since the beginning of the AFU counteroffensive.
