First companies from Kenya accredited at BUCE

Three companies from the Republic of Kenya have successfully passed the accreditation procedure at the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE). So far, residents of this country have not participated in stock trading. It is assumed that meat and dairy products, as well as other domestically produced food, will be exported to East African countries through the exchange, while Kenyan coffee, vegetables and fruits will be supplied to Belarus.

As reported by the BUCE press service, the access of Kenyan business entities to the Belarusian electronic platform has become the practical result of an exchange seminar for representatives of local business circles held in April 2024 in Nairobi. During the event organised with the support of the Embassy of Belarus in Kenya and the Kenyan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the participants discussed the possibilities and prospects of co-operation between the BUCE and Kenyan businesses to increase mutual trade turnover. Agriculture was identified as a priority area, where, according to the parties, the interests of Belarus and Kenya completely coincide.

“It is feasible to start exchange trading with a new country with highly liquid products that can ensure stable commodity flow in both directions at the start. In the case of Belarus and Kenya, these are, of course, agricultural products – both raw materials and goods with higher added value. Therefore, after completing the training, Kenyan companies accredited on the stock exchange plan to participate in auctions of agricultural products, acting as sellers and buyers. In Belarus, they are primarily interested in dry dairy products, frozen semi-finished meat products, and cereals. They are also ready to supply coffee beans, fruit and vegetable products from Kenya, including avocados and mangoes," Roman Yaniv, the BUCE spokesman, informed.

Taking into account the Republic of Kenya, more than 7.3 thousand non-residents, including companies from North, South and East Africa, are accredited to the BUCE at present.
