Fallico: global efforts need to be united to build new humanistic economics
The Verona Eurasian Economic Forum is an important initiative created to conduct an open and constructive dialogue in Greater Eurasia aimed at building fair humanistic economics – as stated by the President of Conoscere Eurasia, Antonio Fallico, at the 15th Verona Eurasian Economic Forum held in Baku on October 27th-28th
Mr. Fallico emphasised that, despite all modern difficulties of the international situation, the event has brought together representatives from almost 30 countries. He added that, for the first time in 14 years since the forum’s foundation, it is held outside Verona.
“It was not easy to organise this meeting, and I am very grateful to Azerbaijan for hosting our forum. Baku’s energy and human warmth enable us to feel at home," the President of Conoscere Eurasia stressed, adding that Italy cherishes the memory of numerous Azerbaijani partisans who gave their lives for Italy’s liberation during WWII.
Mr. Fallico noted that holding the Verona Forum in Baku this year was not an accidental decision, “This is the beginning of a new stage in the development of our forum as such. It has already reached maturity, and it now seeks to anticipate the fundamental role that the Eurasian megaregion may have in the international, economic and social terms in the short and medium term… By joining forces, it is possible to build new humanistic economics in a multipolar world – centred round the person and his interests.”
The forum’s key theme this year is Eurasia on its Path to a New Geopolitical, Social and Economic Order. Transition to a New, Human-Centred Economy. The event aims to promote business dialogue in Greater Eurasia, and Baku was chosen as its venue not accidentally: modern Azerbaijan has gained a well-deserved and significant authority on the world stage, confirmed by its impressive trade and economic potential.
The international meeting agenda covers such topics as transition to a multipolar world order, a new reality of raw materials and energy markets, natural gas as a key resource for the economy of the future, forms of industrial and trade co-operation in a changing world, models of financing and payment mechanisms in a global context, the role of the technological revolution in economic development, ways ensuring food security and promoting the agro-industrial sector development.
