According to the Justice Ministry’s press service, Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a law on amendments and additions to the Criminal Code and the Code on Administrative Responsibility. The document comes into force from the date of its official publication.

“In line with the amendments, being in public places with a closed face to an extent that does not allow identification of an individual entails a fine of 15-30 basic calculated values ($405-$ 810),” the Justice Ministry reported in its Telegram channel.

It is noted that exceptions are provided for clothing that hides the face due to a medical diagnosis or special instruction. In addition, monetary penalties are not provided in cases where the use of such clothing is due to labour and official activities.
