Experts: US inflation control law can only temporarily reduce electricity prices
German experts from the Macroeconomic Policy Institute said that the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) would provide only a temporary reduction in electricity production in the country, TASS reports
It is noted that, according to experts, after the expiration of the measures of the law in 2030, the effect of curbing the growth of electricity production costs will significantly decrease. Then the costs of production in Europe and the United States will be equal again.
This legislation, which was passed in the US, could help reduce the cost of generating wind, marine and solar energy in the US in the 2020s and early 2030s. Afterwards then they will start growing again. Experts note that the implementation of the law can put more pressure on European energy-intensive companies than on subsidised enterprises in the US.
Earlier, the media wrote that the US Inflation Reduction Act was a matter of concern in Europe because it could lead to an outflow of investment from the EU.
