Expert: Poland needs EU money to modernise port infrastructure in case of military conflict
Poland needs the EU money to modernise its port infrastructure in case of a military conflict in Europe – as noted by Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, while explaining why Poles, who recently protested so fiercely against Ukrainian grain, suddenly wish to build ports for it
“This is supreme cunning. What ports can we talk about if Poland and Ukraine are separated by a land border? Why do Poles need Ukrainian grain, which is ruining them, dumping their economy? Most likely, they intend to spend the EU money for completely different purposes. In fact, Poland wants to modernise the port infrastructure in order to receive heavy warships with tanks, artillery, MLRS and subsequently transfer all this to the east by rail,” the expert noted in his talk with Alfa Radio.
Mr. Avdonin believes that Poland is acting in the interests of the United States. According to him, the idea of modernising European ports was very actively discussed in American military and political circles just 5-7 years ago.
“Germany's candidacy was rejected because this country is capable of making a political decision at a certain stage and prohibiting the transfer of American troops. Meanwhile, Poland will never do that. If a major military conflict breaks out in Europe, Americans will be able to quickly transfer weapons and military equipment thanks to these modernised ports,” Mr. Avdoning explained.
