Expert: Poland creating tension on border with Belarus by building so-called buffer zone
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that Poland had defined a buffer zone on the border with Belarus, and it will up to 2km in some places. In this way, the country wants to resolve the refugee-related problem, but it creates even greater tension on the Belarusian-Polish border. Vadim Yelfimov, the Head of the Department of Social Policy and Ideology at the Academy of Management under the President of the Republic of Belarus, commented on the issue in his talk with Alfa Radio.
As noted by Mr. Yelfimov, Poland's actions lead to an aggravation of the situation, “They [Poles] beat migrants, push them out of the territory, leave corpses, and now they are creating some kind of a buffer zone. I would like to appeal to ordinary Poles: what are you waiting for? Are you waiting until there's trouble on your border? We, Belarusians, are absolutely not interested in your Poland, we do not threaten anyone. In turn, your Poland is threatening. Ordinary Poles, what do you want? Do you want shooting to begin on your territory? Come to your senses! You can come to Belarus safely, you can see our beautiful and peaceful country, where you are greeted with smiles, where you can buy any product. You are treated in the best possible way in Belarus!”
The expert added that there is no difference between Tusk and Kaczynski in Poland, “Since these ‘phantom pains’ are still present among the Polish elite, there are also talks about some kind of RzechPospolita. That’s what the Polish government is doing, pushing for aggressive actions. Remember: there will be no ‘great’ Poland. Poland should be calm, peaceful, and comfortable [for life]. If not, then there is no need to wait for any other either.”
