Expert on how many people rest in Belarusian health resorts annually
The demand for medical and wellness services in Belarus is really very high, and in recent years it has only been increasing – as noted by Aleksandr Tsai, the Deputy Director of the Republican Centre for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population, in his talk with the STV TV channel
The specialist noted that the availability of sanatorium treatment and health-improving services for our citizens, primarily children, remains a priority. At the same time, foreigners also come to Belarus for these purposes.
“The demand for medical and health-improving services has really been very high recently, and it is only increasing. The optimal occupancy rate for health resorts stands at about 80 percent, enabling to carry out reconstruction, repair or change the room stock if emergency situations occur. It’s harder to do this with 100 percent occupancy. This occupancy rate is observed during summer. And so it is optimal for us,” the expert explained.
According to him, the average occupancy rate of Belarusian health resorts last year was about 84 percent.
“In total, we have 287 facilities able to accommodate 60,000. With an average annual occupancy rate of 80 percent, we provide sanatorium treatment and health-improving services to more than 1.4m people. These are not only Belarusians, but also our guests from other countries,” Aleksandr Tsai added.
