Expert named promising areas for Belarusian goods and services exports to India
We are discovering India in a new way today. The Belarusian-Indian negotiations on co-operation in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, mining, and food security have recently been held – as stated by Doctor of Economics, Professor of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Department at the Belarusian State University Valery Bainev.
“I believe it is very important that Belarus has begun to discover new horizons and directions. India is one of these footholds in South Asia. It is a very interesting country that adequately perceives the world, develops the national economy, and does not ‘hang upon the lips’ of Western ‘civilisers’. According to analysts at the India Ratings and Research (Ind-Ra) rating agency, India's GDP could reach $15 trillion in fiscal years 2043-2047. In turn, in 2033-2036, India may become a country with per capita income above the average level,” Valery Bainev noted.
“It is important for Belarus to co-operate with India in economic terms. What products and export services can be in demand there? First, Belarus is able to assist India in the construction of modern housing. It seems to me that this is one of the main areas of co-operation. Secondly, anyone who has been to India has seen what transport the citizens use. And why don't we manufacture and offer Delhi the appropriate electric transport?! A promising area of interaction is food security: in particular, we are talking about the supply of potash and nitrogen fertilisers. India has serious markets for our products. It seems to me that our combines, tractors and much more will be in great demand there. As well as large-sized transport – BelAZ and MAZ [Belarus-made] vehicles – which are so vital in India’s numerous mines and oil and gas fields,” Valery Bainev added.
