Expert: in Belarus, most rapid AI development observed in medicine
In Belarus, the most rapid development of artificial intelligence is observed in medicine in image processing, speech recognition and synthesis, which subsequently makes it possible to more reliably diagnose a disease – as noted by Sergei Kruglikov, the Director General of the Joint Institute of Informatics Problems at Belarus’ National Academy of Sciences
Mr. Kruglikov clarified that artificial intelligence (AI) systems are currently used to develop medicines and identify certain molecular compounds to create various fertilisers and materials. AI technologies are being introduced into various fields of activity.
“AI is increasingly often being used by our manufacturers: i.e. in production of motor vehicles. The systems that assemble cars are robotic, they are equipped with certain intelligent algorithms of operation. One of the dairy enterprises in Belarus has long introduced a robotic platform, including an intelligent system for obtaining new dairy products,” the expert noted.
In his opinion, the most rapid development of artificial intelligence is observed in medicine in image processing, speech recognition and synthesis, which subsequently makes it possible to more reliably diagnose diseases.
“Our institute is also engaged in the intellectualisation of processes that were previously automated, but require certain decision support systems and the formation of a second opinion. Of course, the final decision is always made by a person, but a second opinion is also important – i.e. for doctors when they process various analyses and images,” Mr. Kruglikov explained.
