Expert explained why NATO is trying to escalate situation in the region and how Belarus is acting
Speaking at a recent meeting of the Security Council, President Aleksandr Lukashenko said that Belarus had invited observers from Poland to the CSTO Combat Brotherhood 2023 exercises, thus demonstrating readiness to restore good relations with its neighbours. In addition, the Head of State outlined the threats and challenges that the republic is currently facing.
In his talk with Alfa Radio, an expert from the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, Aleksei Avdonin, commented on the reasons for the escalation of the situation in the Eastern European region.
The expert noted that the West and NATO are primarily interested in whipping up such a hysteria, “We see that any society — either ours or European one — is not interested in a war. However, they definitely need to form an image of some kind of threat in order to justify the increase in military spending, the militarisation of our region, the deployment of a strong group of troops, the supply of weapons and military equipment. We have seen how the image of certain threats posed by Belarus and Russia has been forming in European and Western society for probably the recent decade. This is the image of an enemy, which has been purposeful created by professional psychological operations centres subordinate to NATO.”
Mr. Avdonin emphasised that the West is trying to represent any actions of Belarus concerning security issues as something extraordinary, although all the country’s events are prescheduled.
“This is aimed at maintaining a sense of threat, fear in Western society. Actually, we are well aware that the method of indirect actions is the most effective one against such methods, so the President clearly said that Belarus has been inviting Poles to participate as observers in the CSTO exercises launched in the Brest Region. Belarusians propose them to see that they do not pose any threat,” the expert explained, adding that – in this way – the Head of State is actually knocking the ground out from under the feet of Poles. After all, the Polish rhetoric against Belarus and the actions of Belarusians are at odds…
“In this regard, it is important to emphasise that our information platforms have translated the recent interview of President [Lukashenko to the Ukrainian journalist] into Polish – so that Polish society can read this information, understand that the picture that their national media form is distorted, that it is of an extremely reactive and negative character and does not lead to good neighbourliness and peaceful relations. We are trying to show that the leadership of Poland and the Baltic States is focused not on the interests of their own citizens, but exclusively on fulfilling the geopolitical tasks of Washington and London – which are very simple: to earn billions of Dollars in the war. After all, their military-industrial complex is now the main driver of economic growth. Belarus’ modern task is to prevent them from escalating the situation and forming a state of some kind of armed conflict, to prevent them from achieving their economic, financial and geopolitical goals,” Mr. Avdonin added.
