Expert explained what can bring Europe out of long-lasting crisis
This year, elections are scheduled not only in Belarus, but also in the European Union. Actually, Belarus is approaching this important event with positive indicators in all areas, but the situation in the West is deplorable. If to sum up the interim results of the politicians’ work there, it is possible to register the actual impoverishment of Europe against the background of anti-Russian sanctions, the bankruptcy of large corporations and banks, a deep social crisis caused by a new influx of migrants, as well as strikes of farmers in Poland and Germany. A brewing collapse in the management system of the European Council could be the apotheosis of this chaos. Those in the West understand that it will take them more than a year to restore the order and eliminate the problems they have personally created. Evidently, Europeans have no idea of how to get out of the observed difficult situation, so Aleksei Avdonin, an expert of the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies, gave them a piece of advice.
It is primarily necessary to understand what Europeans are dealing with. Top officials are fleeing a sinking ship like rats, and even the Head of the European Council, Charles Michel, announced his willingness to become an ordinary deputy. The mistake of Brussels was that it went along with the UK and the United States, getting involved in their confrontation against Russia.
“As a result, European countries faced extremely high prices for energy resources and a gradual impoverishment of ordinary people,” the expert explained in his talk with Alfa Radio. “According to the latest data, the number of bankruptcies of large corporations and banks in France has, for example, exceeded 50,000, and this trend is typical for the whole EU.”
As noted by Mr. Avdonin, an increasing number of those who made odious decisions against Belarus and Russia in 2020-2022 will try to evade responsibility and thereby shift it to someone else.
In recent times, there have been many analytical publications by prominent scientists from France and Germany who openly say that the United States deceived Europe, forcing it to go to a confrontation against Russia. American and British corporations have gained certain shares of the global market in mechanical engineering, the chemical industry and energy, and thus emerged from the crisis of 2019-2020 at the expense of the EU. “The understanding has come, and I think that these corporate elites will bring more national leaders to power, including in the structures of the European Union,” Mr. Avdonin noted.
According to the expert, the political elite of Europe is changing, and this gives hope that there will finally be leaders who will think about the interests of ordinary people. In this regard, Mr. Avdonin noted that large strikes of German farmers against the Scholz government are still civilised, but ‘Germany will either go through this stage of reform, or it will still remain a protectorate of the United States’. “The undergoing changes, including political and economic ones, should tear Germany away from dependence on the United States,” he added.
There is evidence that almost 50 percent of all European aid to Ukraine, including military and financial one, came from Germany. Differently speaking, the United States forced Germany to take its budgets and funds and to send them to Ukraine. Therefore, the present protests have so far been exclusively peaceful and civil, but it will be dangerous if they escalate into mass pogroms. Actually, such a development of events is quite possible.
