Expert: Belarus promotes hegemony-free world order
The situation on global organisation platforms sometimes goes beyond the classical diplomacy, dividing states into ‘friends and foes’, and various provocations of the West against Belarus and Russia are becoming ‘normal’. Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst with the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies, explained why this is happening.
“The UN has recently adopted another anti-Russian resolution. Belarus and some other countries voted against it, but the West did not like that. Actually, each country has the right to its own point of view. We have a firm position on many problematic issues. The US and the UK act aggressively, they dislike the weak, but respect the strong; they understand that such states must be reckoned with. Therefore, Belarus should primarily have a strong economy and a cohesive nation,” the expert noted.
Mr. Avdonin added, “The satellites of the collective West, the Baltic States, Poland and Ukraine, fulfil the will of Washington and London. They are interested in discrediting us on various international platforms, but further development is possible only thanks to active co-operation based on the principles of good neighbourliness and mutual respect. However, this is unacceptable for the United States and the European Union, because they act in the interests of global corporations. Belarus, with its social model, just offers a completely different world order: without hegemony. This should be conveyed to everyone.”
President Aleksandr Lukashenko spoke very directly about the relations between Belarus and Russia on international platforms, “Let them scream, let them shout. We should follow our own path. The dog barks, but the caravan moves on. This is the principle we should follow in our work and life. We should pay no attention and should not even comment. [We should] demonstrate their arrogance and idiocy. That's it, nothing else is needed.”
