Expert: Belarus’ law enforcement agencies, special services focused on ensuring safety of society

As reported by The Sunday Times, Belarusian militants – who intend to participate in an armed attempt to revolt against Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko – are currently undergoing combat training in Poland. In his talk with Alfa Radio, an analyst at the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies, shed light on the reasons for such information spread by the British media.

As noted by Mr. Avdonin, publications of the kind are not a one-time desire of the British media to hype, but an element of the information war unleashed by the West against Belarus.

“All Western media are now working in a unified manner, and this is an element of propaganda, intimidation, formation of a certain image of the future, which they are trying to impose on us and European society. They say that they are ready to go further and, although they did not manage to implement a colour revolution in 2020, they have other tools of a forceful nature. With the help of the latter, they want to try to tear Belarus away from Russia, deploy NATO troops here and continue to implement their long-standing plan to weaken the Russian Federation. Actually, these are all illusions,” the expert stressed.

Mr. Avdonin believes the plans of Belarus’ opponents will not work. “We can prepare some material for the British media indicating all the articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus, where it is clearly stipulated what will happen to those activists who take up arms and cross the border in attempts to commit terrorist acts or forcible seizure of power. Moreover, I think that not only the provisions of the Criminal Code will operate in some circumstances, but also the anti-terrorist regime, which provides for the destruction of terrorists in the event of their direct penetration into the territory of Belarus and disobedience to law enforcement agencies. They [opponents to the Belarusian state] are making attempts, and we perfectly understand what they are leading to, why they are doing this. Law enforcement agencies and special services are focused on ensuring the safety of our society,” he stressed.
