EDB: wages in Belarus keep growing

The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) noted that the wages in Belarus continue their growth, sb.by reports citing EDB’s weekly macroeconomic review

“Real wages grew 12.5 percent in September 2024 after a 12.3 percent growth observed in August, facilitated by the base rate hike on September 1st,” the review states.

EDB analysts point out the labour market situation as a key factor shaping the wages dynamics. The steadily growing number of vacancies (+21.6 percent in September) is felt more acutely by the shrinking number of people in active workforce (-0.8 percent in August). The unemployment rate hit the record minimum: 2.9 percent.
