Demand for Belarus’ medical and health-improving services from foreigners grew by 35% in 2022
Last year, 188,000 foreigners used health-improving services in Belarus – 35 percent up compared to the previous year, according to Director of the Republican Centre for Health Improvement and Sanatorium-Resort Treatment of the Population Gennady Bolbatovsky
“Before the coronavirus pandemic, the share of our citizens in the total number of people provided with medical and health services was 60 percent on average, while foreigners accounted for 40 percent. This ratio was optimal for the system of sanatorium treatment and rehabilitation of the population, enabling us to ensure greater accessibility of health resort services for the citizens of our country. After the reorientation of the sanatorium and health complex in 2020-2021 to the domestic tourism market, the share of Belarusians increased several times. Last year, the ratio of Belarusians and foreigners in sanatoriums stood at 70 and 30 percent. This year, we note a significant increase in demand for medical and health services from foreigners, expecting to come closer to the optimal ratio of the pre-COVID period: 60 to 40 percent.”
