Defence Ministry on incident with Ukrainian drone aircraft: Belarus acted in line with unified regional air defence system

Major General Andrei Lukyanovich, the Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence Forces of Belarus, commented on the incident related to the violation of Belarus’ airspace by the Armed Forces of Ukraine on August 9th

“Yesterday, August 9th, 2024, after 06.00pm, a group of unmanned aerial vehicles violated the state border of the Republic of Belarus. Based on the materials of objective control, the unmanned aerial vehicles were launched from the territory of Ukraine. The units performing air defence combat duty missions shot down several of them, and the remaining unmanned aerial vehicles were destroyed by the units of the Aerospace Forces of the Russian Federation. All actions of the on-duty brigades were carried out in accordance with the action plan of the unified regional air defence system,” Mr. Lukyanovich informed.
