Date of Presidential election in Belarus set for January 26th, 2025
The date of the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus has been set for January 26th, 2025 – following the decision taken during today’s meeting of the second session of the House of Representatives in the Oval Hall of the Government House
Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko noted that next year Belarus will host an extremely important and significant socio-political event: the election of the President of the Republic of Belarus.
“The Presidential election will complete the cycle of election campaigns under the updated Constitution. The results of the upcoming Presidential election campaign are of paramount importance for every citizen, society and the state as a whole. It is a milestone in the development of any country, a test of the strength of the political system of the state. It is the Presidential election that determines the future of Belarus for the coming years and the directions of its further development,” Mr. Sergeyenko underlined.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives reminded that in line with Article 97 of the Constitution of Belarus, the election of the Head of State is appointed by the House of Representatives. The proposal to set the date of the Presidential election to the House of Representatives was made by the Central Election Commission (CEC).
