Congress of Patriotic Forces kicked off in Minsk
The Congress of Patriotic Forces, organised by the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus under the motto For Peace and Development and dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Belarus’ liberation from Nazi invaders, has begun work in Minsk. The two-day forum aims to unite healthy political forces, demonstrate the will for mutually beneficial co-operation, for a world without sanctions, wars and pressure.
More than 50 guests from the Russian Federation, the European Union and other countries are taking part in the Congress of Patriotic Forces. As the organisers emphasise, this is a great opportunity to convey the position of the President of the Republic of Belarus about the processes that are taking place in our common home today.
Opening the forum, the Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on International Affairs, Oleg Gaidukevich, said, “We have representatives of Serbia, Slovakia, Poland, our friends from Germany and Ukraine here today. We want to tell them all: we know what war is, we do not want a war. We want you – after your staying in Minsk – to get convinced that Belarus is a peaceful country, it stands for peace and poses no threat to anyone.”
Addressing the foreign guests of the congress, Mr. Gaidukevich stressed, “When they are trying to drag Belarus into some kind of military adventure, everyone should understand that they are trying to drag the whole of Europe into the war! You have come in Minsk today, but they will state tomorrow that you are pro-Belarusian and pro-Russian. This is not true: you are pro-national! We want you to have patriots in power! We want Europe to be independent and strong!”
The Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party announced that the Congress of Patriotic Forces will be held annually, and a representative delegation from France is expected to attend next year. Very well-known personalities will be among its members.
The programme of the event includes 2 sections: political and economic, so the issues of foreign and domestic policy, as well as international economic co-operation will be widely discussed.
Moreover, today, September 9th, Deputy Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus Vadim Ipatov will meet with Serbia’s National Assembly Deputy Speaker Jovan Janjic, who arrived in Minsk to participate in the Congress of Patriotic Forces. In addition, a meeting of the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus on International Affairs, Sergei Rachkov, with the parliamentarians of Bulgaria and Slovakia is scheduled.
