Colonel-General Sidorov: Poland ignored Belarus' invitation to observe CSTO exercises

Poland ignored the invitation of Belarus to observe the CSTO exercises – as informed by the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation, Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov, during the Moscow-Minsk-Astana-Bishkek-Yerevan video conference

Mr. Sidorov drew attention to the fact that the Combat Brotherhood 2023 exercises were held in Belarus on September 1st-6th at the Brestsky, Gozhsky, Domanovsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Chepelevo and Lesishche military training grounds. As part of the event, joint exercises for the CSTO collective rapid response forces Vzaimodeistviye 2023 [Interaction], the special exercise with reconnaissance forces and assets Poisk 2023 [Search], the exercise with logistics support forces and assets Eshelon 2023 [Echelon], and the exercise for nuclear, biological, and chemical protection troops and medical support Baryer 2023 [Barrier] were organised.

“Observers accredited on the territory of the state, military attaches and other representatives of international organisations attended the final, most dynamic stages of the exercises. Some other specialists were also invited. In particular, Belarus invited them to show that the exercises were not directed against third countries and representatives of Poland, but the latter did not come. Nevertheless, the invitation had been sent,” Colonel-General Anatoly Sidorov informed.
