CIS leaders to discuss international topics during informal meeting in the evening

An informal meeting of the leaders of the CIS member states will begin in Moscow tonight, with its participants discussing various topics in a friendly atmosphere on the eve of the official summit. The event was announced at a briefing by Aide to the Russian President Yury Ushakov, BelTA reports with reference to TASS.

According to him, an informal meeting of the CIS leaders will be a kind of preparation for the summit.

“During the informal communication, many issues will be raised, including those dealing with regional and international agenda,” Mr. Ushakov said.

The Aide to the Russian President noted that the format of free discussion is ‘very, very productive’.

Mr. Ushakov added that there will be elements of free discussion at the official meeting in a narrow format. He announced an ‘exchange of views on co-operation within the framework of the Commonwealth of Independent States’.

President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko has arrived today in Russia on a working visit. It is planned that on October 8th, the Belarusian leader will take part in the CIS Council of Heads meeting in Moscow.
