CIS foreign ministers agreed on number of joint documents in Moscow
A meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers has taken place today in Moscow, on the eve of a session of the CIS Heads of State Council scheduled for October 8th
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted that the CIS foreign ministers had agreed on a plan for multi-level inter-ministerial consultations for 2025, an action plan for 2025-2026 to implement the International Youth Co-operation Strategy, and an action plan for 2024-2025 dedicated to declaring Ashgabat the CIS City of New Sports Opportunities.
During their extended meeting, the foreign ministers discussed and adopted a statement on co-operation in the field of physical culture and sports. “It reads that sport is one of the inalienable human rights, which have an unconditional universal and mass character. We note the importance of co-operation between the CIS member states within the framework of the Council on Physical Culture and Sports. Sports are developing in our countries under the Out of Politics slogan, and many events are being organised,” Russia’s Deputy Minister of Sports, Aleksei Morozov, noted.
“This document is important in conditions when attempts are being made to throw discredit on the principles of Olympism and fair sport fighting, or even simply to ignore them,” Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stressed at a press conference.
Decisions were also made at the meeting on the establishment of four new basic organisations: in the fields of advocacy, the media and the volunteer movement development.
